Bonnie Henry & Farnsworth Bankrupting Small Businesses to Reduce Covid Growth Rate by a Massive 1%

Your business needs to shut down, and possibly go bankrupt, so that we can maybe reduce the case growth rate by 1.5% and only IF we continue these restrictions for a minimum of 41-60 days.

As if the initial lockdowns last year weren't bad enough, with 1 in 6 businesses considering permanent closures, record levels of bankruptcies, and restaurants taking on an average of $170,000 in loans

BC's new sweeping restrictions announced on March 29, 2021, restricting indoor dining, indoor exercise classes and indoor worship services, feel like a sucker punch to many small business owners in BC.

In fact, for the first time since the beginning of lockdowns in March 2020, small business owners are finally organizing and taking a stand, holding their own rally this past Friday at City Hall in Vancouver organized by SaveSmallBusinessBC

Where Is The Data?

The big question that needs to be asked about these particular restrictions is "Where is the Data? Where is the Science? What is the basis for these particular restrictions?"

Costco is open. Walmart is open. Indoor tastings at wineries are open. Science World is open.

As it turns out, the CDC recently put out one of its biggest studies to date on the effectiveness of mask mandates and restrictions of indoor dining on Covid-19 case growth rates.

You can read the full study here: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7010e3.htm

Del Bigtree recently did a complete segment on this study on his Highwire show. I edited a shorter version that you can watch here.

The Bottom Line

As it turns out, mask mandates and the restriction of indoor dining does in fact reduce the growth rate of covid-19.

But the question is, by how much?

How much reduction should we expect to see if we're going to risk the bankruptcy of at least 1 in 6 of our small businesses?

As you can see in the chart below, from this study, with mask mandates over the course of 60 days case growth was reduced by a whopping 1.5%.

That's right!

Your business needs to shut down, and possibly go bankrupt, so that we can maybe reduce the case growth rate by 1.5% and only IF we continue these restrictions for a minimum of 41-60 days.

I believe it's safe to say the Bonnie Henry, Farnsworth, Dix and co. are all very aware of this study and this data.

Which means they know very well how ineffective these mandates and restrictions are. And they also know very well that the so called 3 week "circuit breaker" will not be enough to make any significant reduction in cases.

They are blatantly lying to us.

And if they are not, then we must demand their transparency, and for them to clearly explain why these specific restrictions are necessary, what data are they using to base these restrictions on and what goals are they intending to achieve. So far, none of that has ever been communicated to the public.

I believe that all of us, and specifically the small business owners in our province, must immediately demand honest and open discussions, debate and transparency, something our government and these so-called "experts" seem to think we do somehow do not deserve.

Stand up business owners. Stand up BC. Before you lose everything worth standing for.
